As I prepare to leave tomorrow for a two week trip to the east coast of the USA, I am reminded that sometimes interesting photo-ops are found at home. The day before yesterday we took an afternoon walk along the Sheboygan riverfront so that we could reconnect one more time with the river and Lake Michigan before we left.
I had forgotten that this weekend Sheboygan was hosting the Nations Cup grand final sailing event. (if you're interested in learning more about the event go to www.nationscup2011.org.) The banners along the riverfront proclaimed that 60 sailors from 15 nations would be involved and that only one would be the winner. As we rounded the bend in the riverfront, we came across two tall ships docked along the side. During the weekend, people could buy a ticket and experience a short voyage on Lake Michigan. Further along the riverfront walk is the harbor mouth and a view of the lake. Races were taking place and we had a land-bound front row seat. Walking away from it all, we later wandered around the brightly painted carnival rides that were being fine-tuned for the evening and the rest of the weekend. All in all, it was an even better walk that we thought that it would be.
Thank you for visiting, please fee free to stop by again. For the next two weeks I'll be traveling, so I may not make a post. I'm excited to revisit Maine and Boston with a chance to see family as well. Philadelphia will be a new city to explore, and there will be a family visit there as well. In the meantime, may your own travels be interesting and enjoyable.
Kerry
